Hair is found nearly everywhere on the human body, except
the palms of the hands and the soles of the feet. Wherever
it is found, the structure and growth cycle of all human
hair is the same. Hair growth is regulated by several
factors, mainly a good blood supply and sex hormones.
Thus hair loss is also affected by these two principle
factors! Nowadays, hairloss need not cause concern to
individuals, because various types of hair loss treatments
are available. Stopping hair loss is possible nowadays
by using genuine hair loss products.
Certain drugs and stress may also cause hair loss. Hair
loss treatments may be medical or surgical. Hair loss
may also be camouflaged with certain products. Hair loss
especially when severe, often affects the lives of those
afflicted. Severe hair loss also evokes loss of self-esteem,
alterations in self-image and loss of self-identity. Hairloss
treatments may provide a sense of well being to those
who are suffering from hairloss.

What can one do in stopping hair loss? Stopping hairloss
is possible with the various hairloss products available.
There are pills, creams, lotions, vitamins and hormones.
Thus stopping hairloss is not a thing out of this world!
Hairloss can be stopped.
Alopecia, meaning hair loss, affects women just as much
as it affects men. Although in the majority of cases,
hair loss is not considered an illness, in recent years
pharmaceutical companies have shown considerable interest
in hair loss treatments. Hairloss has baffled experts
for years but it now seems that the cause has been well
established. Hair loss treatments started to develop in
the late eighties. Hair loss treatments for alopecia are
divided between medical and non-medical solutions. Although
there seems to be literally thousands of products for
stopping hair loss, there are in fact only two treatments
which are classed as medicines. These treatments are not
suitable for all types of alopecia. There are several
types of hairloss (alopecia) but by far the most common
alopecia is alopecia androgenetica. Alopecia androgenetica
(hereditary baldness) probably accounts for 95% of total
hair loss world wide. Stopping hair loss is an ongoing
process. Although, over the years, thousands of products
have been developed for stopping hair loss, not many of
these can claim to be effective in stopping hair loss.
Whilst some products may be partly effective as hair loss
treatments others would have no benefit whatsoever. The
two medical products have however proved to be effective
in stopping hair loss.
Alopecia androgenetica affects mainly men between 20 and
50 years of age. The word androgenetica is made up of
two words, 'androgens' meaning hormones and 'genetica'
meaning genetic (hereditary). In males with hereditary
hair loss, the male hormone testosterone comes into contact
with an enzyme (known as 5 alpha reductase) which is present
in the hair follicles on the top and crown of the head.
Testosterone is then converted to dihydrotestosterone
(otherwise commonly referred to as DHT) and it is this
DHT that shrinks the hair follicle causing hair loss.
As mentioned earlier, there are various types of alopecia
such as alopecia androgenica, alopecia areata, diffuse
alopecia, alopecia totalis, alopecia universalis, cicatricial
alopecia, traction & friction alopecia and self-inflicted
alopecia. Not all these types of hair loss can be medically
treated. Medical hair loss treatments would only be effective
if the hair follicle is still present.
Hairloss has always caused distress and anxiety especially
in youngsters. Today, more and more young people are realizing
that it is possible to treat hair loss and several are
those who seek professional advice in stopping hair loss.
Hair loss treatments may be purchased from pharmacies
or hairdressers or over the internet. Although all producers
claim success in stopping hair loss, one must not trust
all products especially those that promise a full head
a hair. Hair loss treatments for stopping hair loss are
never 100% successful. Although a product has recently
been developed which claims 100% success, its side effects
are a 'put off'. Stopping hair loss altogether will probably
always remain a problem. Experts are constantly working
on developing new products for hair loss. In the United
States, scientists have devoted year of studies in the
causes and treatment of alopecia especially alopecia totalis,
alopecia areata and alopecia universalis. These types
of alopecia may be classed as an illness although in most
cases they are hereditary, their exact causes have yet
to be established. Whatever you call it, alopecia or hair
loss, hair loss treatments for permanently stopping hair
loss will always seem to remain a problem.
